TXT’s Yeonjun and Stray Kids' Felix have both issued apologies after their recent actions on Korea's Liberation Day, August 15th, stirred controversy among fans and netizens.
Felix, a member of Stray Kids, faced criticism after mentioning a Japanese animation challenge on the fan communication platform 'Bubble' during the early hours of the 15th. Recognizing the sensitivity of the day, which marks Korea's liberation from Japanese colonial rule, Felix expressed deep regret through Stray Kids' official community. He stated,
"I sincerely apologize for being careless and inattentive on this meaningful Liberation Day. I am deeply reflecting on my lack of historical awareness and will make an effort to educate myself and avoid repeating this mistake."
Similarly, Yeonjun of TXT came under fire for uploading photos from the group’s recent trip to Japan on his personal Instagram account. Although the photos were deleted within minutes, the timing of the post on Liberation Day drew criticism from many Korean netizens. On this day, known as Gwangbokjeol, Koreans are particularly sensitive to Japan-related content, refraining from consuming or promoting anything connected to Japan as a way of honoring the nation's independence.
