Choosing the best song from DAY6's ninth EP, Band Aid, released on September 2, 2024, was no easy task. We found ourselves torn between "Melt Down," a fantastic pop-rock track that seamlessly blends multiple musical styles, and "Monster," a song that resonated deeply with us. In the end, we remained true to our instincts and chose "Monster," a track that leans more towards rock with a hint of darkness. It brought us back to the era of Radiohead, with a touch of Sixpence None the Richer—a truly special and rare gem in the K-pop world.
The lyrics of "Monster" are exceptional, and it's clear that they can resonate with anyone, despite being written during a time when the songwriter felt utterly alone. It's a track that captures the universal feeling of isolation and the search for connection.
To DAY6's lead vocalist, Young K, we have just one thing to say: after the success of this album, you can no longer say, "Nobody, nobody wants me," or "Nobody, nobody loves me." With Band Aid and especially "Monster," DAY6 has proven that they are a band that not only understands their audience but also knows how to create music that touches the soul.
