The 2024 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) took place on September 11, 2024, at the UBS Arena in Elmont, New York. Originally slated for September 10, the ceremony was rescheduled to avoid overlapping with the presidential debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris. This year's VMAs were hosted by Megan Thee Stallion, marking her debut as a host.
New Awards and Notable Winners
This year’s VMAs introduced two new categories: VMAs Most Iconic Performance and Best Trending Video, both determined by fan votes. Taylor Swift led the nominations and wins, taking home seven awards out of twelve nominations, including five wins for her collaboration with Post Malone on the single “Fortnight.” Katy Perry was honored with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, presented by her fiancé, Orlando Bloom.
