NCT Wish, known as the "Princes of Gen Z," has made their much-anticipated return with their first mini-album, Steady. Released on the 24th at 6 p.m. KST, the album marks their comeback seven months after their debut. The group held a media showcase at Blue Square Mastercard Hall in Seoul to celebrate the release, expressing both excitement and determination for their latest work.
A New Musical Journey
The mini-album Steady features seven tracks, including the title song of the same name. In his remarks, member Jaehee explained, "We challenged ourselves with a lot of new genres this time." Riku echoed these sentiments, adding, “We poured our sincerity into continuing our miraculous encounters, from our debut until now.” The album boasts a refreshing mix of genres, with the title track standing out for its blend of house, UK garage, and jersey club beats.
The title track "Steady" encapsulates NCT Wish’s vision of keeping their bond with fans unbroken. The song expresses the group’s desire to continue their “miraculous meeting” forever, using vibrant beats and a Gen Z sensibility to deliver their message. This upbeat, dance-driven track is just one of several songs in the album designed to highlight NCT Wish’s versatility and evolving sound.
Breaking Records
Prior to the official release, Steady had already set new records for the group, surpassing 800,000 pre-orders—breaking the 630,000 pre-orders of their previous release, Songbird. As NCT Wish continues to achieve career highs, member Zion admitted, “We are taken aback by the numbers in the articles, but we are committed to showing the side of us our fans expect.”
Showcase Highlights
During the showcase, the members spoke about their preparation and the challenges they faced while creating Steady. "We worked really hard, so please look forward to it," said Riku. Sion added, “We want to show you a better side of ourselves than what you saw with Songbird.”
NCT Wish’s members also discussed their goals for this album cycle. Sakuya, one of the group’s youngest members, shared, “I’m nervous, but I want us to win first place on every music show.” The album’s strong pre-order numbers have positioned NCT Wish well for chart success, and their determination to grow alongside their fans is evident.
More Than Just an Album
In addition to the album’s release, NCT Wish unveiled three music videos for their tracks "Steady," "Dunk Shot," and "Don't Need 3 Minutes." The group pre-released the music video for “Dunk Shot” as a special treat for their fans, showcasing a sporty, energetic concept. Jaehee commented, “We wanted to show the feeling of ‘NCT Wish is coming big,’ and I’m glad fans enjoyed it. We got off to a great start.”
As NCT Wish embarks on their latest promotions, their fans, lovingly called Czennies, remain their greatest source of motivation. Jaehee reflected on their growing success, saying, "Our fans are the driving force behind our growth. We hit 800,000 pre-orders this time, but next time, we’re aiming for 1 million.”
With Steady, NCT Wish continues to cement their place as one of the top contenders for rookie group of the year, showcasing not only their musical versatility but also their dedication to their fans and future success.
