On October 19, 2024, Karina of Aespa made a remarkable achievement by winning her first music show as a soloist on MBC’s Music Core. Her solo song “UP” clinched the top spot, beating out tough competition from AB6IX’s “NVKED” and QWER’s “My Name is Malguem.” Despite not appearing on the show, Karina’s victory marks a major milestone in her solo career.
Following the broadcast, Karina took to the fan communication platform Bubble to express her heartfelt emotions. She shared a tearful selfie with her fans, saying, “ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ... this is crazy,” showing her surprise and joy at the unexpected win. Although she couldn’t fully express her emotions in the moment due to being in the middle of hair and makeup, she promised her fans, “I’ll cry later when I’m alone at home.”

Reflecting on the achievement, Karina admitted that she was still in shock. “When I saw it trending and charting, I thought, ‘Is this really happening?’ I never imagined I would win first place on a music show,” she shared.
Although Karina was unable to perform on the broadcast, she expressed deep gratitude to her fans, saying, “Thank you so, so, so, so much! I hope I get the chance to show my performance on stage soon.”
