NewJeans made a lasting impression at the inaugural Korea Grand Music Awards (KGMA) held on November 16 at the Inspire Arena in Incheon. The group not only delivered captivating performances but also took home two major accolades: the Best Artist Award and the prestigious 2024 Grand Artist Award.
Electrifying Performances
The quintet opened their act with a dramatic entrance, appearing enclosed in a purple cage in the arena's center. They transitioned into a mesmerizing performance of "Right Now," seamlessly blending elegance and intensity. Utilizing props like desks and sofas, the choreography exuded a unique charm.
The mood shifted with a live-band rendition of "Bubble Gum," where NewJeans showcased their vocal prowess while freely engaging with the audience. Their live vocals remained flawless, even during intricate choreography. The performance reached its peak with "Supernatural," featuring synchronized movements with dancers and a polished use of standing microphones, leaving the crowd in awe.
Heartfelt Acceptance Speeches
When receiving the Grand Artist Award, Minji reflected on their two-year journey since debut:
"We've met so many people and faced numerous challenges, which have strengthened us as a team. Today marks another meaningful milestone in our growth."
Hanni added a touching note to their fans, the Bunnies:
"We often say thank you, but it’s far from empty words. The bond between us and the Bunnies is unbreakable. Let’s stick together until the end."
Daniel closed their speech with an emotional declaration:
"Even if we’re not NewJeans anymore, NewJeans is never truly gone."
