For the past three years, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon has been synonymous with BTS, as the group’s members have been the exclusive K-pop acts to appear and perform live on the show. While BLACKPINK’s Rosé made her first appearance on the show back on March 17, 2021, with a pre-recorded performance, it wasn’t until December 11, 2024, that she returned for her highly anticipated solo in-studio debut, breaking a streak of BTS-exclusive performances.
Since Lisa’s solo debut performance on September 11, 2021, The Tonight Show had only hosted BTS members, with no other major K-pop artist being invited to perform—until Rosé made her spectacular return.
Rosé graced the stage with a stunning performance of “APT.” and “Toxic Till the End,” two standout tracks from her recently released album, Rosie. The audience was treated to an intimate and energetic rendition of her songs, as Rosé took a seat behind Fallon’s iconic desk, effortlessly kicking her feet up and belting out the tunes with style and grace.
During her interview with Fallon, Rosé shared her quirky songwriting habits, much to the delight of the audience. She explained that her songs start with stories, with inspiration often coming from spontaneous phrases that she immediately texts to her friends—sometimes baffling them with out-of-context messages like “How dare you?”
This playful yet creative approach is emblematic of Rosé’s artistry, which shines throughout Rosie. Released on December 6, 2024, the album features 12 tracks, including Number One Girl, 3 AM, and the chart-topping APT., her collaboration with Bruno Mars.
Rosé’s solo career has been nothing short of groundbreaking. APT. landed in the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, making Rosé the highest-charting female K-pop soloist in history. She also topped the Global Spotify chart, solidifying her status as a global music icon.
