The K-pop group NJZ, formed by former NewJeans members, is moving forward with their upcoming performance at ComplexCon Hong Kong, despite claims of interference from HYBE's chairman, Bang Si-hyuk.
On February 19, NJZ's PR channel, reportedly managed by the members' parents, shared a statement alleging that Bang Si-hyuk personally contacted American officials to dissuade them from hosting NJZ at the event. The statement expressed frustration, suggesting HYBE still perceives the members as mere profit generators rather than supporting their independent journey.
"We were disappointed and angered by the sudden statements from five major Korean entertainment associations, which seem connected to these recent developments," the announcement read. The group also questioned Bang Si-hyuk's direct involvement in disputes between HYBE and ADOR, the label formerly associated with NewJeans.
Despite these challenges, NJZ confirmed that their performance at ComplexCon Hong Kong will proceed as scheduled. "Our members are thrilled to showcase their new image to global fans for the first time since leaving HYBE and ADOR," the statement continued. NJZ is set to debut a new track at the event in March.
Fans are encouraged to continue their support as the group embarks on this new chapter, emphasizing resilience and excitement for future endeavors.
