In a poignant gesture of love and remembrance, 22 prominent K-pop artists are coming together to honor the late Moonbin with a special tribute track titled "Memory of the Moon." The song will be released at 6 p.m. KST on April 19 — exactly one year after the beloved Astro member’s passing.
The song, organized with heartfelt dedication, reflects the unbreakable bond between Moonbin and the people whose lives he touched both personally and professionally. Many of the participating artists are fellow 1998-liners — part of Moonbin’s closest circle.
According to entertainment agency Fantagio, the emotional project includes Moonbin’s Astro bandmates, all members of girl group Viviz, and close friends from across the K-pop world. Artists from Monsta X, Seventeen, Stray Kids, and Billlie are among those who lent their voices to the heartfelt composition.
Stray Kids’ Bang Chan, Monsta X’s Hyungwon and Minhyuk, Seventeen’s DK and Mingyu, and Moonbin’s sister Moon Sua from Billlie are just a few of the names participating. Each artist shared a personal connection with Moonbin, whose kindness and bright presence left an unforgettable impact across the industry.
The idea for the tribute was born out of a desire by Astro members to create something beautiful for fans still mourning the young star. “Memory of the Moon” promises to reflect Moonbin’s warmth, the friendships he nurtured, and the legacy he leaves behind.
Moonbin passed away on April 19, 2023, at the age of 25. He was found at his home in Seoul’s Gangnam District, with authorities confirming no signs of foul play. His sudden death sent shockwaves through the K-pop community and led to an outpouring of grief from fans and fellow artists alike.
Before his debut with Astro in 2016, Moonbin began his career as a child actor and model. He was widely recognized for his role in the hit drama "Boys Over Flowers" and continued to balance music and acting throughout his career. Known for his captivating stage presence, infectious energy, and deep care for those around him, Moonbin’s legacy lives on in the hearts of millions.
"Memory of the Moon" is not just a song — it’s a collective embrace, a reminder, and a love letter to a star who continues to shine in memory.
